the end is near

howdy!  i promise i did not abandon you, but nothing has really changed yet!  still wondering what's going to happen, still researching, still taking my time.  i do have one new update though....drum roll please........

i got a car!!!!!  yes, after 3 months of searching, endless phone calls from car dealers, whole weekends of running around dfw and houston, exhaustion, and heartache, i have a car.  whether it's a boy or a girl and it's name is to be determined because i haven't met him/her yet, but don't worry, a few days together and it'll be named.  but i know you're dying to know what it is so i'll tell you - it's a pale green honda element!  and it's all mine :)  i'll get it when my parents come for graduation so i have just under 2 weeks to wait but that's ok.  i'm sure we'll have plenty of time together.

also, graduation is in 12 days!  it's crazy to think about.  it's actually really saddening so i'm trying not to think about it too much.  right now it's just something written in a planner, something posted on my calendar, but it's going to be real.  i'm not sure when it'll hit me, if it will be at graduation, a few days later, halfway through summer, or after the summer is over and we aren't all returning.  but all the people i see every day, everyone in aerospace, all the little things i always thought i hated, i'm going to miss it all.

mostly aero-related things i'm going to miss just from this semester alone, in no particular order:
sam running his stupid hand blender at 5 in the morning after his workout.  having a good roommate for once in five years.  seeing sorority row every morning and knowing i was a part of it.  the awful sides of the road on the route i sometimes bike to school.  the bus always coming right when i'm trying to get out of my driveway.  sam being pissed that we missed the trash pickup....for the second or third week in a row.  loud parties next door when i'm trying to study.  studying.  late nights on the 6th floor of bright.  the random signs in the lab and things drawn on the board.  the window in the break room we fought so hard for.  youtube watch breaks in the lab with everyone there.  blaring the music from 020.  biking through the halls of the basement.  frantically asking around for old quizzes/tests the night before.  free food at meetings.  free food from meetings i'm not invited to.  aero bbqs.  finally talking to aeros i've known for years but never bothered to get to know til now.  obannons at lunch.  being jealous of all the liberal arts and business majors that never do any real work.  having the same best friends for 3 or 4 or 5 years.  not having to explain myself because those friends always know me too well.  leaving riverside at 2 am and complaining but really loving it.  7th floor rounds.  friends coming over at 4 am  to wake me up and hang out.  amorea.  words with friends during 452.  doing a round in the middle of 452. sitting between carrie and anton in 452 so we can talk the whole time.  having late night couple hours long chats with sam about nothing and everything.  wednesday night 42 at the chicken.  college station couch surfing.  pollock's ridiculous stories for everything that could possibly happen.  partying more during the week than on the weekends.  getting away with it easily because i'm only taking 5 hours.  the walk from lot 50 to bright.  the endless construction at ross and spence.  discovering the perfect combo of flavored creamer and coffee in the faculty lounge.  carrying it around in front of faculty while they approve being i'm old anyway.  wearing t-shirt and shorts or jeans, every single day. fighting with sam over what we're going to watch on netflix (not really fighting).  feeling old at northgate.  like, really old.  cheap drinks.  knowing my town inside and out.  the dip in the road by jin's.  going to genghis and saying hi to everyone.  seeing friends' cars when i'm parking in lot 50 and being happy to know i get to see them in a few minutes.  knowing all my friends are just a few minutes and a phone call away.  being at texas a&m.  being in college station.  being home.

now that i'm sad just thinking about this semester, i better stop before i start recalling the last 5 years.  time to finish my second to last paper as an undergraduate.
